Banana Chocolate Chip Bars

Updated: Jan 31

Do you like bananas? Do you like chocolate? If you’ve answered yes, you need to try making these! This is my go to recipe when I have leftover spotty bananas on the counter. It’s even replaced my delicious chocolate banana bread recipe with my kids! https://www.eatingwithhouri.com/post/banana-bread-you-ll-go-bananas-for

These Banana Chocolate Chip Bars are a great treat at any time of the day! I’ve enjoyed them for breakfast, for lunch, for dessert, and just for a quick snack. I honestly can’t get enough of them! Try my recipe, you'll get addicted!

INGREDIENTS

  • 5 ripe bananas

  • 3/4 cup of brown sugar

  • 1/4 cup of oil- I use extra virgin olive oil

  • 1/4 cup milk

  • 2 eggs

  • 1 & 3/4 cup flour

  • 1 teaspoon of baking soda

  • 1 teaspoon of cinnamon

  • 1 cup of of chocolate chips (divided in 2)

STEPS

1. Heat the oven to 350 degrees F. Grease a 15×10 pan with butter or non-stick spray.

2. Peel the bananas and mash them well. Stir in the brown sugar, oil, milk and eggs until it’s all combined. Add the remaining dry ingredients and mix.

3. Fold in 1/2 the chocolate chips. *I have to stop here for a second because every time I use that sentence, I chuckle. So what exactly does it mean to “fold in” an ingredient- David Rose from Schitts Creek said it best: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=08EfLhnG2jg

4. Spread the batter into the prepared pan and sprinkle remaining chips on top. Bake for 20 minutes, until a wooden toothpick inserted in center comes out clean. Cool completely and cut into squares.

5. Bon appétit!
