This appetizer not only brings the cheesy, herby pizza-vibe to your spread, but it’s also very easy to prepare. I use simple ingredients like store-bought pizza dough and cheese strings to create this tasty cheesy bread in under an hour, making it an ideal last minute appetizer when you just need one more addition to your spread.
Cheesy Bread from refrigerated pizza dough is delicious and loaded with herby garlic butter and lots of cheese. Give my recipe a try; dip them in marinara or pesto for the ultimate appetizer or side dish!
INGREDIENTS:
1 package of ready to use pizza dough (like Pillsbury)
6 cheese strings, cut in small pieces (each cut into 3)
2 tablespoons of butter, melted
3 garlic cloves, pressed
Italian seasoning
Salt & pepper to taste
1 egg for the egg wash (mix it with 1 tbsp of water)
STEPS:
Kneed your pizza dough and divide into 20 even pieces.
Stretch & flatten each piece and wrap it around a piece of cheese to create a round ball.
Roll the ball & pinch all sides to seal all the edges.
Mix 1 egg and 1 tablesoon of water for the egg wash. Brush it on before baking the bread.
Bake at 400 F on a lined baking pan for 18 minutes, they should be golden brown.
Melt 3 tablespoons of butter, add the fresh garlic & Italian seasoning to brush on after the bread comes out of the oven.
You can season as you like, here are some examples: shredded Parmesan, herbs like rosemary, fresh parsley, etc. You can serve it with pesto or marinara dipping sauces.
Bon appétit!
